We are passionate about caring for the land, water and forests and maintaining the buildings so they continue to support our guests, residents and teachings.
This year the Ashram is taking a major step forward in our infrastructure planning process with our engagement of the Nelson-based company, 9dot Engineering Inc., and their partner company, Aqua Diversities Inc. With their help , we will do a comprehensive assessment of our water and wastewater systems. Over the next five years we will also assess our buildings and energy use, looking at how we plan for the future and maintain what we have. A key component of the process is fire protection, working with the Ashram property and building community resilience to wildfire.
We are pleased to have found this local company, that has a commitment to thoughtful and practical planning. Although the Ashram is one of their smallest clients (they tend to work on the municipal level), they are happy to work with us because they can see that we will put the plans into action, which is professionally satisfying for them. We are looking forward to stabilizing and strengthening the Ashram infrastructure, as well as increasing our reliance on renewable energy sources to create a solid foundation for future generations.
